Context

Unlike other electricity companies, Powershop provides alternative ways of paying bills by letting customers pay as they go throughout the month via purchasing ‘power packs’. Designed to be fun and engaging, customers would visit our site daily to see what deals were on.

Product challenges I worked on

Powershop was already a leading brand with a high customer engagement and satisfaction level. Changing our business model could disrupt this, lose customer trust and engagement but a business model change was needed to secure our growth into new markets and future global white-label projects.

  • How can we decouple the UI from electricity markets to allow for other services to be sold?
  • How might we show electricity costs in units other that kilowatt hours? How can we release this fundamental pricing model shift while keeping the UI and user experience feeling familiar?
